The
Quavers Musicianship Course for Children |
| |
Many years of painstaking
development, has produced a course that is both unique and highly effective.
The presentation is bright, lively, captivating and fun! The content is
comprehensive. Children are taught in informal groups of up to 10
pupils.
The course has been designed to eliminate the mystery and
inaccessibility of reading music and tackles the most sophisticated concepts
with simple child-friendly logic.
Confidence is built on success and
success is assured because, over the development years, all areas of potential
difficulty have been pinpointed and ironed out so that the children progress
smoothly and steadily with maximum fun along the way. The syllabus is taught
with stories, song and games all expertly designed to impart musical knowledge
and skills.
We have found, and recent research confirms our findings
(see youthmusic.org.uk), that all children can benefit from learning music at
an early age and that the benefits spill over into almost every aspect of their
development. The full workshop
course lasts 3-4 years and produces 30-40 young musicians every year, all eager
to get to grips with any instrument within reach. Many Quavers graduates go on
to successfully play and enjoy three or four different instruments. Most join
orchestras and bands in the area and some go on to study music at universities
music schools.
Each year, Quavers Music in Chester holds a re-union
Musical Afternoon when ex-pupils get together, along with their families, to
share their music, re-new old acquaintances and raise money for local
children's charities. Younger pupils are inspired by the performances of the
older, more experienced ex-pupils.
Children completing the course will
be competent, confident, and ready to tackle any instrument appropriate to
their size and physical maturity. More importantly, they will be very motivated
and keen to get to grips with any musical instrument within reach!
Many ex- Quavers pupils take up and enjoy two, three or more
instruments.
